Which national passports are approved by the FEI

You can easily check if a national passport has been approved by the FEI. The FEI publishes a list of all approved documents: National Passports and Identification Documents Approved by the FEI.

You can use this list to see:

-      If a horse has a national passport with which you can issue a Recognition Card

-      If you want to check if your National federation’s passport has been approved by the FEI

-      If you want to check which national passports in your Federation have been approved by the FEI

If the horse’s national passport is not listed, you can ask the FEI to evaluate it, to see if it meets the criteria to become an approved national passport or identification document.

The passport issuing organisation or National Federation must send a blank hard copy of the national passport to the FEI Veterinary Department. Please contact passport@fei.org for further information.

If the passport meets the criteria (FEI Passport guidelines for approval), it will  be added to the list of issuing bodies on the FEI Database and the list of National Passports and Identification Documents Approved by the FEI.

These approved documents can be used to issue a FEI Recognition Card: "How to issue a FEI Recognition Card".

These are also the approved documents that can be uploaded to the FEI Database for all newly registered horses as of 1st January 2017.
