- Category
- A defined group of Athletes for whom the Event or Competition is organised.
- Competition
- a competition is the 3rd level in the FEI Calendar. Refers to each individual class in which Athletes are placed in an order of merit and for which prizes may be awarded.
- Discipline
- Any Equestrian Discipline approved by the General Assembly, such as Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting, Reining, and Para-Equestrian.
- Entry / Entries
- The inscription of an athlete and his horse (s) to participate in an event/show. The Entry can me made by the National Federation only (in certain cases by the Organising committee)
- Event
- The event is the 2nd level in the calendar structure of the FEI. An event is the competitions' category, proposed by the Organising committee at their show. e.g: CSI2*, CEI1*90,...

- Horse
- Refers also to a Pony or other member of the genus Equus unless the context requires otherwise. A Horse shall be born from a mare.
